The companies Grieshaber Präzision, Supfina and VEG invited young people to come to the tenth "Career Information Day", which took place in the VEGA seminar rooms. For the first time this event was carried out in cooperation with the technical colleges of Furtwangen and Offenburg.
True to the motto "Don't play poker with your future" the trainees of the Grieshaber group came up with a very special idea: within the context of a career rallye the visitors could slip into the roles of different professions. The middle point of the rallye was the job of building an LED flashlight. The production tasks of various specialists were tried out – for example, the industrial mechanics built the housings, the electronics technicians did the soldering and the mechatronics craftsmen the etching of the names. The technical draftsmen were able to use their spatial powers of imagination to complete the design. For the industrial managers, a good knowledge of Europe was the key to success. The pupils collected poker chips at the individual stations, which were then exchanged for prizes at the end.
The funnily staged "etiquette manual" lectures, which gave helpful tips for the guided tour of the plant, were also well received and provided insights into the work environment of the trainees.
At the end of every visit, the nearly 300 pupils had the chance to win an iPod or a poker suitcase.
Bernd Heinrich, training officer for the VEGA vocational trades, was quite pleased with the positive response of the visitors.
