Test reports – new radar sensor for standard applications in bulk solids |
|
Almost three years ago, VEGA introduced VEGAPULS 68, the first radar sensor specially developed for level measurement of bulk solids. The technical advantages of radar have allowed this technology, which is relatively new in the area of bulk solids level measurement, to go mainstream within a very short time. Since radar signals are influenced just as little by dust, air currents and filling noise as they are by high temperatures, many users are already today making use of these advantages. For many typical applications with small measuring ranges and moderate requirements with regard to process temperature and pressure, however, the "high performance" versions of radar sensors that were available until now are far too expensive. The new radar technology was used primarily in applications where previous measuring principles exhibited serious functional problems. The new radar sensor VEGAPULS 67, which was developed specifically for standard applications in the area of bulk solids, closes this gap and makes it possible to benefit from the advantages of radar technology also in price-sensitive standard applications.
