Level measurement of bulk solids – RADAR versus guided microwave Within the last ten years, level measurement with microwaves has moved into the mainstream of industrial measurement applications. Because microwaves are practically immune to process conditions such as temperature, pressure and atmospheric composition, this measuring principle is universally applicable.
While contactless measuring techniques are quite often applied for the measurement of liquids, the guided microwave, also known as TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry), has proven to be very advantageous for the measurement of bulk solids.
