Drying and granulation
The fluidised bed process is an application used frequently in the pharmaceutical industry in the production and drying of granules. Through the bottom of the fluidised bed reactor, the product compartment is fed a constant, temperature-controlled airflow. The catalyst, fed to the product via a spray nozzle, contributes to the increasing size of the dispersed particles until they can no longer be carried by the airflow, and fall to the vessel bottom. In order to avoid contaminating the outside air, the airflow emitted from the vessel is filtered. All wetted parts of the plant are made from stainless steel 1.4435 (316L) with a surface roughness of <0.8 µm. The whole system is entirely SIP/CIP capable.

Filter monitoring and level detection with VEGABAR 64
To monitor the filtering process and detect the level, the differential pressure between the filter and the upstream flow at the bottom of the vessel must be measured. The VEGABAR 64 is ideally suited for this application, as the ceramic CERTEC measuring cell is highly resistant to abrasive particles and withstands all CIP processes. The LA-process connection warrants optimum cleaning results due to its particular hygienic design.
