VEGA successful at ACHEMA 2009

At this year’s ACHEMA, VEGA presented to a large audience many new products for the process industry. As one of the leading, innovative manufacturers of measurement technology, the company showcased the next generation of its successful product concept plics® and introduced the two new measuring principles in its product line. VEGA realised its goal of simplifying measurement technology already back in 2003. The instrument concept plics® brought forth sensors with a modular housing system, freely combinable process fittings, simple and uniform adjustment as well as complete upward and downward compatibility. In plics®plus, its current stage of development, one basic idea still takes centre stage: reduce complexity even further. VEGA presented plics®plus and its numerous advantages for the first time in the newly designed trade fair booth. Fair visitors praised the even simpler instrument adjustment with the enhanced indicating and adjustment module, PLICSCOM, and the easy handling of the IEC 61508-compliant sensor electronics. Through pluggable terminal blocks and mechanical disassembly aids, the user can now exchange the electronics in a few seconds. The additional features of the plics®plus sensors, like the low operating voltage of 9.6 V, the faster signal processing and higher measuring precision through more powerful microprocessors as well as the optional GSM/GPRS module for remote data transmission, also met with great interest. The premiere of the two new measuring principles in the plics® family – the microwave barrier for level detection in difficult media and the radiometric sensors for level and density measurement – also grabbed a lot of attention. “We had a high visitor frequency at the VEGA stand, and in every respect a positive impression could be felt among our guests”, noted Frank Piotrowski, sales manager of VEGA Grieshaber KG. “The premiere of the new product concept plics®plus and the new VEGA booth at ACHEMA 2009 was a great success.”
