Products made of iron play a key role in our everyday life. To transport the greatest amount of ore possible through the processing facility, the ore must have an optimal lump size. If the pieces of ore are too large, unnecessary blockage of the conveyor system can result. If the pieces are too small, heavy wear on other equipment in the production chain occurs. The consequence can be reduced plant availability, or even complete stoppage. The job of the primary and secondary crushers is to reduce the ore to the optimal lump size in two steps.
The crusher silo as well as the crusher rollers are subject to extreme wear, which is directly related to the amount of ore in the crusher. When the crusher is too full, the pressure on the rollers increases and the consequent wear is very high. But if the filling volume of the crusher is too low, equipment utilisation, and thus production, drops.
