Milestones of his life

1919

Bruno Grieshaber is born as the first son of Bruno and Amalia Grieshaber, born Burger, in Triberg. Bruno already has a sister, Ida.
Family Grieshaber and its enterprise Gebr. Grieshaber oHG move to Wolfach the same year.

1933 – 1935

Apprenticeship as toolmaker.

1936 – 1938

Apprenticeship as bank clerk in the Vereinsbank Schiltach.

1938 – 1940

Course of studies at commercial school in Hamburg, main focus is foreign trade.

1940

When called into the second World War as a young man, he becomes a teacher at the officer school in Swinemünde.

1941

His mother, Amalia Grieshaber, dies.

1942

After the death of his first wife, father Bruno Grieshaber marries Christel Herbstreut.

1944

In May Bruno Grieshaber’s first son Jürgen Grieshaber is born, in August his half-brother Wolfgang Grieshaber is born.

1945

Returning from war captivity in Canada, he finds his father’s company in Wolfach almost completely destroyed. Although the plant escaped the bombs, the victorious Allies have dismantled almost 90% of it. Together with father Bruno and his cousins Ernst and Albin Grieshaber, he begins rebuilding the metal working factory.

1952

His second son, Frank Michael Grieshaber, is born.

1953

On the 50th anniversary of Gebrüder Grieshaber, Bruno Grieshaber is appointed to management and assumes responsibility for business administration. His cousin Albin Grieshaber takes over the technical operations of the company. The company's name is changed from Gebrüder Grieshaber oHG to Gebr. Grieshaber KG.

It is already clear to the farsighted businessman Bruno Grieshaber that electronics will play a decisive role in the lives of future generations.

1956

Bruno Grieshaber takes his first steps to enter the electronics sector by producing the bicycle radio Veloton, a tube radio known under the brand name AJA, and by becoming a contract manufacturer of record player amplifiers for DUAL.

1958

In April his father, Bruno Grieshaber, dies.

1959

Bruno Grieshaber gründet in Freiburg das Unternehmen VEGA.

1960

Acquisition of Allgeierhof in Wolfach – Übelbach.

1963

Building of the Grieshaber Mechanical Engineering operation in Schapbach for production of transmissions and machines.

1964

VEGA moves from Freiburg to Wolfach.
VEGA registers "current-oriented measurement" for patent. This is the first VEGA patent.
Countless other patents and innovations follow.

1967

The capacitive measuring electrode is patented.

1969

Bruno Grieshaber establishes the first foreign marketing companies of VEGA in Belgium and Holland.

1974

Bruno Grieshaber buys the buildings of the former textile factory Karlin in Schiltach.
Mutual participation of the companies Grieshaber Mechanical Engineering in Schapbach and Supfina Hentzen in Remscheid.

1975

VEGA moves to Schiltach with 100 employees.

1976

Gebrüder Grieshaber KG purchases its first CNC turning centre.

1979

Establishment of the business division VEGA Medical Engineering.

1980

Gebrüder Grieshaber KG moves to Schiltach with 280 employees.

1982 – 1986

VEGA establishes marketing companies in Switzerland, England, France and Italy.

1983 – 1984

A modern living and business centre emerges on the former site of the Grieshaber enterprise.

1985

Bruno Grieshaber is awarded the German Federal Cross of Merit.

1986

VEGA invests in its first new extension building.

1987

VEGA sets up a subsidiary firm in Australia as well as a joint venture in China.

1988

Bruno Grieshaber is awarded Baden-Wurttemberg’s State Economy Medal.
Gebrüder Grieshaber KG invests in a new building for post-fabrication processes/hand machines.
VEGA purchases Fibronix Sensoren GmbH in Kiel.

1989

Bruno Grieshaber is awarded the UNESCO prize “Prix de Promotion International de l’Industre”.
Volksbank Oberes Kinzigtal honours Bruno Grieshaber's 30-year tenure on its supervisory board (20 years as chairman) with the Schultze Delitzsch badge.

1990

Bruno Grieshaber is appointed honorary member of BERIAR (Italian doctors’ association for research and distribution of functional and bioenergetic medicine)

1991

Establishment of the Grieshaber Academy.

1992

Extension of the VEGA company building in Schiltach.
Acquisition of the Hentzen family’s shares in Supfina Hentzen in Remscheid and Grieshaber Mechanical Engineering in Schapbach.

1994

Son Jürgen Grieshaber assumes control of the business administration of VEGA.
The Grieshaber Health Centre is opened.

1995

Fusion of Supfina Hentzen and Grieshaber Mechanical Engineering to Supfina Grieshaber Gmbh & Co. KG.
Transformation of Gebrüder Grieshaber KG into Grieshaber Gmbh & Co. KG.

1996

VEGA sets up a subsidiary in Singapore.

1997

Bruno Grieshaber invests in a water turbine on the Kinzig that allows VEGA to generate its own electricity.
A subsidiary is established in South Africa. VEGA purchases 50% of the company Ohmart in the USA.

1999

VEGA erects another building complex.
The new building is inaugurated in the context of a celebration of Bruno Grieshaber’s 80th birthday as well as the 40th anniversary of VEGA and the 20th anniversary VEGA Medizin.
Fusion of Fibronix Sensoren GmbH with VEGA.
Relocation of ceramic measuring cell production to Schiltach.
Grieshaber Gmbh & Co. KG builds a new extension for the shipping department and the construction of a high rack storage area.

2000

Grieshaber Gmbh & Co. KG builds a new extension for the mechanical, electrical and training workshops that were previously located in the VEGA building.

2001

Bruno Grieshaber receives from the town of Schiltach the distinction of “Honorary Citizen“.

2003

The enterprise Gebrüder Grieshaber celebrates its 100th year of existence.
Supfina Grieshaber KG moves from Schapbach to the new Supfina technology centre in Wolfach.

2004

A VEGA subsidiary firm is established in Spain.

2005

VEGA builds a parking deck for employee vehicles.

 

Cooperation in associations and organisations

• Supervisory board Volksbank Oberes Kinzigtal, served 20 years as chairman.

• Administrative board AOK Wolfach.

• Member of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Lahr, served as head of the board of examiners of industrial clerks for more than 20 years.

• Trade Association of Industrial Enterprises in Baden, served as advisor and member of the board.

• Judge in the Social Affairs Court, endeavoured to adjudicate conflicting interests with wisdom and tolerance.

• Honorary member of BERIAR (Italian doctors’ association for research and distribution of functional and bioenergetic medicine).
