Radar for level measurement of plastic granulate and powder successfully in use
Basell, the world's biggest manufacturer of polypropylene compounds (PP), with manufacturing facilities on all continents, produces at its plant in Wesseling-Knapsack, Germany, approx. 150 thousand tons of plastic granulates every year. The synthetic materials from Basell are the base materials for a wide variety of consumer products. They are needed just as much for the production of household appliances like washing machines and dishwashers (also called "white goods") as they are for the fabrication of plastic parts like interior trims and bumpers for vehicles. The versatile features of polypropylene are highly valued in many different industrial and consumer goods applications. The various material characteristics are obtained by mixing in, among other things, different additives like softeners or glass fibres. Softeners make very tough end products possible, glass fibres generate extremely rigid end products. Pigments give the plastic its appearance.
