Storage vessels for different substances
Production and quality of the paper are supported by systematic addition of chemicals and additives. Typical substances used in stock preparation are hydrogen peroxide, caustic soda, sodium silicate, fatty acid and soap. Further chemical additives mixed in upstream of the headbox are refining polymers, defoaming agents as well as fixatives and retention agents. Storage is carried out in dfferent containers of high-grade steel or GFK up to 12 m (40 ft) high.
Level measurement with VEGAPULS 63
Some of these agents are very corrosive, emit gases and have temperatures, e.g. in soap processing, up to 95°C (203°F). That's why the optimal solution for level measurement here is the radar sensor VEGAPULS 63. The instrument remains unaffected by the process conditions and delivers exact measuring results even when agitators are running.
Overfill protection with VEGASWING 63
To provide overfill protection acc. to WHG (Water Resources Act), the vibrating level switch VEGASWING 63 is implemented in conjunction with the signal conditioning instrument VEGATOR 636 Ex.
Pressure monitoring with VEGABAR 53
The pressure transmitter VEGABAR 53 with metal diaphragm is deployed to provide optimal dry run protection for the chemical pumps.
