Preprocessing
Sugar and flour serve as the basic ingredient of many types of foods. These bulk solids are stored in up to 20 m (66 ft) high silos. Filling and emptying is frequently carried out via pneumatic systems which transport the product with a conveyance pressure of approx. 0.7 bar (10 psig) from the large outer silos to the decentralized production lines. Once the products arrive there, they are stored in smaller, 4 m (13 ft) high containers and kept ready for further processing.
Continuous level measurement in the outer silos with VEGAPULS 68
A VEGAPULS 68 radar sensor is deployed for continuous level measurement in the high outer silos. The contactless radar measuring principle is immune to the dust and noise that arise during filling.Mechanical influences, such as tensile forces, do not have to be taken into account when installing the gauge.
Monitoring the pressure in the pneumatic conveyer with VEGABAR 64
Conveying speed and line pressure are regulated with the help of a pressure transmitter. The transmitter acts directly on the blower, controlling its capacity. Due to the abrasive medium, a VEGABAR 64 with ceramic measuring cell is the most suitable instrument for this task. The front-flush installation prevents the pressure connection from getting clogged.
Bread – variety in form and taste
Bread is one of the most important and common foods worldwide. The offered selection of shapes and tastes is correspondingly large. The number of recipes is practically unlimited. Almost every day, large bakeries put breads with new tastes or additives on the market. These ingredients are stored in small containers. Flour, yeast, salt and water remain however the principal ingredients.
Level control in the intermediate silos with VEGAVIB 61
In the smaller silos that serve as temporary storage, a simple two-point control is frequently used for filling level control. The reliable detection of the limit levels for filling level control is realized with two VEGAVIB 61 vibrating switches. The rod form prevents deposits from collecting and jamming the sensor, and enables installation near the emptying or filling openings.
Level measurement in small vessels with VEGAPULS 67
VEGAPULS 67 offers the ideal measurement solution in the two to three meter high containers for baking ingredients. Immune to dust and the effects of changing mediums, VEGAPULS 67 measures the filling level dependably and accurately. Its simple installation and set-up without calibration saves time and money.
