In applications for continuous level measurement of bulk solids, compromises often had to be accepted until recently. Dust, filling noise, mechanical loads and difficult installation conditions hampered measurement or even made it impossible.
Towards the end of 2004, VEGA Grieshaber KG introduced the first radar sensor specially developed to meet the requirements of bulk solids level measurement. In the meantime the new VEGAPULS 68 radar sensors have proven themselves in practice in many applications worldwide and clearly exceeded all expectations regarding their range of application. Reliable level measurement is guaranteed even under conditions of extreme dust generation from pneumatic filling. The radar signals are affected just as little by temperature fluctuations as they are by strong air currents or extreme filling noise. To adapt the sensor to each respective application as optimally as possible, horn as well as parabolic antennas are available.
Since the instrument is integrated in VEGA sensor concept plics, housing versions of synthetic material, aluminium or high-grade steel are available for selection. Also with respect to the electronics, no wish has to go unfulfilled: the 4 ... 20 mA version is available in two- and four-wire, the field bus version in Profibus PA and Foundation Fieldbus technology. With all these features, the VEGAPULS 68 radar sensor is very well equipped for the highly demanding task of bulk solids level measurement.
