From plastic granules to fertilisers
A large number of finished products in the chemical industry are manufactured and brought to market in the form of powders, granules or pellets. Plastic granules and powders are often stored in tall, slender silos and filled pneumatically. Fertilisers are transported via conveyor belt to large bunkers or stockpiles for storage until further transport.

Especially with highly abrasive products like fertilizers, contactless measurement of filling levels is the preferable solution. The vibrating level switch VEGAVIB 63 in rod version is ideal for detecting the levels of granular materials that tend to clump together – the design avoids product jamming. The switching point of the sensor can be precisely adapted to individual requirements by using customised cable lengths.
VEGAPULS 67 – ideal for small and medium-sized vessels
VEGAPULS 67 is the ideal solution for all silos up to 15 m high. As an alternative to the previously used ultrasonic measuring technology, VEGAPULS 67 offers significant advantages under conditions of strong dust generation. The sensors are mounted in closed vessels by means of a simple collar flange and in open silos by means of a universal mounting strap.
VEGAPULS 68 in the plastic granulate silo
Synthetic materials, whether in granular or powder form, generally have very poor reflective properties. In order to measure the silo levels reliably and exactly, a sensor with very high sensitivity is required. The radar sensor VEGAPULS 68, which was specially developed for bulk solids, is the ideal solution for this application area due to its high dynamic range. Its different antenna systems guarantee optimum signal focusing and make a large measuring range possible.
Pressure monitoring with VEGABAR 64
If there are pneumatic silo filling systems, it is important to monitor vessel pressure to check e.g. for blockage of the dust filter or to keep tab on the pressure in the pipes. The front-flush ceramic measuring cell of VEGABAR 64 is ideal for use in pneumatic conveyance systems. The robust sensor version permanently withstands abrasive products and delivers reliable measurement data.
