VEGA expands operations in the USA: New electronics production facility opens in Mason
Great joy at the grand opening: Scott Rollman (from left), Patrick Herrmann, Ron Foltz, and John Groom (VEGA), together with Mayor Diana K. Nelson and Gina Rittinger (REDI Cincinnati, a regional economic development organisation), inaugurate the new electronics production facility in Mason.
A milestone for measurement technology manufacturer VEGA Grieshaber KG: At the beginning of October, the company officially put into operation its new electronics production facility at its US location in Mason, near Cincinnati. The extension covers approx. 11,000 square metres, effectively doubling the previous production space in Mason.
With this added facility, VEGA will now produce electronic components directly on site. The site expansion strengthens local supply chains, reduces dependence on global logistics and increases flexibility in customer service. Production at the company’s headquarters in Schiltach will of course continue.
Sustainability and energy efficiency
The new building was constructed with a clear focus on energy efficiency and environmentally friendly materials. Regional sourcing and the elimination of long transport routes contribute to a more sustainable value chain.
“With the expansion in Mason, we’re investing in being closer to our customers in North America,” says Isabel Grieshaber, Managing Partner of VEGA. “This allows us to react faster, conserve resources and deploy our innovative strength more effectively worldwide.”
Collaboration across continents
After about two years of planning and construction, the first completely assembled circuit boards flowed successfully from the new SMD production lines. VEGA celebrated the official launch with its employees from the USA and Germany, as well as representatives from government and economic development groups in the Cincinnati region.
This success is the result of intensive teamwork across continents. Besides technical know-how, cultural exchange also played an important role: VEGA offered intercultural training and language courses.
With the new electronics production facility, the instrumentation manufacturer is strengthening its international production strategy and laying the foundation for further global growth. Until the end of the year, specialists from Schiltach will be supporting the production ramp-up to ensure a seamless transition to series production.
