VEGA partnering EPCs around the world: Focus on JAZAN Refinery

If you are an EPC involved in the oil and gas market, you probably have worked on one of JAZAN's projects in the last few years.

VEGA is proud to be one of the trusted suppliers of the level and pressure sensors installed in the massive facility. Through the voices of our colleagues, we would like to describe how VEGA serves as a global supplier for EPCs.

JAZAN IGCC UTILITIES

  • VEGA subsidiary:  VEGA INSTRUMENTOS, S.A. (SPAIN)
  • EPC: TECNICAS REUNIDAS
  • Technologies: Guided Wave Radars & Bypass Chambers

  • Vanesa Muñoz Rodríguez from the VEGA Spain explains:  “VEGA Spain and TECNICAS REUNIDAS have been awarded with the Jazan IGCC Utilities Package. The communication and information flow were convenient between VEGA Spain and the major EPC.  This guaranteed the project, as big and complex as it was, to land on time and to be completed without any issues. Our scope of supply covered hundreds of guided wave radars and  bypass chambers designed for specific and challenging applications. We are really happy about this project with TECNICAS REUNIDAS and we are proud to have our sensors installed in this titanic project of Jazan.”

JAZAN SOUTH AND NORTH TANK FARM

  • VEGA subsidiary: VEGA Technique Dubai Branch (UAE)
  • EPC: PETROFAC
  • Technologies: Guided Wave Radars and High Temperature Guided Wave Radars. for Level measurement in the storage tanks, Liquid Gas spheres and interface level measurement for Dewatering.

  • Maulik Gurjar, EPC manager of VEGA Dubai, describes: “It was a dream come true to be a part of one of the world’s largest refinery and to supply a huge number of guided wave radars for critical level measurement in some of the world’s largest tanks and spears at Jazan.”

“The project got extended many times due to geographical and climatic issues. However, we were happy to hear from our EPC client that they appreciate to have a single point of contact. VEGA Dubai demonstrated its capabilities throughout all project stages starting from the bid submission and technical clarifications to, finally, the execution. This project was having its own challenges having the largest and only kind of tanks in the world. Fortunately, our experienced service team from VEGA Dubai were able to commission reliable measurements that will now be used for years to come, thereby gaining another satisfied customer.”

JAZAN IGCC (Integrated Gasification Combined-Cycle)

  • VEGA subsidiary:  VEGA AMERICAS (USA)
  • EPC: SAIPEM ITALY
  • Technologies: SOLITRAC31 (Radiation based sensor),  POINTRAC31 (Radiation based level switches), Nucleonic Sources.

  • Luis Santiago from VEGA Americas highlights:  “Participating in Jazan's Gasification Project was one of the most interesting topics to work on. The international nature of the project has been prominent and required a smooth synchronization of everyone: the project's location was in the Middle East, the  EPC in Italy and the detailed engineering was managed by our US colleagues; a wonderful collaboration including different time zones, cultures and nationalities. Thanks to the "ONE VEGA" concept  (a cluster of VEGA Project Managers all around the globe), our client is getting on time local support from VEGA subsidiaries based in their own region, with comfort and cost efficiency. On top of that, this project gave us one more opportunity to deploy VEGA’s most advance radiation based technology for non-invasive measurement in one of the world’s largest refinery."

JAZAN NAPHTA PROCESSING AND AROMATICS COMPLEX

  • VEGA subsidiary: VEGA Instruments (SEA) Pte Ltd  (SINGAPORE)
  • EPC: JGC
  • Technologies: A large amount of Radars and Guided Wave Radars

  • Boon Teck GOH in VEGA Singapore comments :"The Jazan project is one of the most exciting project VEGA Singapore handled together with our partners both in Singapore, Japan and the Middle East.  We are happy that hundreds of VEGA radars (both non-contact and guided-wave technlogies) were selected to meet the extreme pressure, temperature and process mediums / conditions.  It was our responsibility to select and deliver the most suitable and cost effective devices for the project.  I am confident that the VEGA Middle East team will continue to provide their professional support on the site."
