Optimizing process control with differential pressure applications

An upstream skid package manufacturing facility in Victoria, TX, is responsible for building many kinds of skids for their clients. Between manufacturing gas hydration units, oil stabilizers, bulk and test separator skids, gas production units, gas and liquid filtration systems, forced draft coolers, separators, coalescing filter separators, and heater treaters, having reliable and accurate flow, pressure, and level measurements during the skid manufacturing process is essential. Due to a lack of support from their previous supplier, this OEM skid manufacturer was unable to obtain accurate measurements during their operations. 

Differential competitor pressures alleviated

The skid manufacturer's search process for an accurate, reliable, and cost-effective measurement solution eventually lead them to VEGA. Before VEGA, the manufacturer had been using sensors from a different supplier, but issues with long lead times, support, and cost was affecting their productivity. This wouldn't fly.

When the manufacturer reached out to VEGA and explained the issues with their flow, pressure, and level measurements, VEGA personnel traveled to meet with them and explore solutions to their problem. Luckily, the manufacturer already had experience with VEGAFLEX 81 and VEGAFLEX 86 sensors, which served as a seamless transition to our pressure products, specifically, the VEGADIF 85 for differential pressure, and the VEGABAR 82 and VEGABAR 83 for line pressure. 

Manufacturing personnel were impressed with the high reliability offered through the integrated overload diaphragm of the VEGADIF 85, and with how the VEGABAR 82 features a durable, wear-free ceramic measuring cell equipped to handle some of the more abrasive manufacturing processes. Additionally, the VEGABAR 83 offers maximum dependability and safety for the manufacturer – a must to ensure consistent quality objectives are met.

Since adding the VEGADIF 85, VEGABAR 82 and VEGABAR 83 sensors to their operations, the manufacturer has increased their overall efficiency. The precise and reliable measurements of the pressure transmitters meant savings on maintenance costs and time, allowing the manufacturer to focus on other concerns. Communications have improved across the board due to VEGA’s customer support providing responses and solutions in a timely manner – a far cry from what they were used to.

All the increases in efficiency at this upstream skid package manufacturer have also increased safety. With process automation in place, workers don’t have to visit these areas as often to manually check the flow, pressure, and level measurements.
