Around the World with 80 GHz – We Love Radar ... and Poland

When traveling through northern Poland, there’s one thing that really catches the eye right away: the stark contrast between grey, concrete dominated suburbs and beautifully restored old towns and historic buildings. Our first stop in Poland late at night was an impressive experience. Suddenly we were standing near a huge cultural monument, one of the most significant and beautiful in the country. Impressively staged in warm floodlight, the imposing castle in Gniew loomed up in front of us – complete with hotel grounds. Fortunately, my Polish colleagues were on hand with the needed history knowledge: Gniew castle, known in German as Mewe, once belonged, along with Marienburg Castle, to the centre of the mighty Teutonic Order.

Focused measurements meet living history

In the massive, spacious castle ambience I was able to introduce 45 interested visitors to the advantages of VEGAPULS high-frequency radar sensors.

Liquids and solids place very different demands on level measurement. Interference signals and installations inside containers and silos create additional challenges. The practical demonstrations focused once again on particularly demanding measurement applications in various industries. The media in the demo setups ranged from oils and sugar to tempting frothy draught beer, which the seminar participants were of course allowed to taste directly at the end of the seminar.

Polish spoken here

The following day in Poland brought me, via amazingly well-built highways, to the final location of the VEGA training series "We Love Radar - Around the World with 80 GHz". It was in Warsaw, and my task was to demonstrate the measurement of difficult media before a group of about 25 VEGA customers and then talk shop with them about other challenging applications. The Polish language may have made things more complicated for me, especially when it came to answering difficult technical questions, but the international language of openness and hospitality, which the hosts knew perfectly, compensated abundantly for this. We love radar … and Poland.
