My Travel Diary: From Schiltach to Cincinnati

What brought you to VEGA Americas?

Our IT-exchange! I don't know if you heard about it before but last year VEGA began to start exchanges to improve the communication between the US and Germany. We currently work on the "follow the sun" concept which means that anytime an employee has technical problems someone from either VEGA Grieshaber or VEGA Americas is available to support him or her. To improve our support I was sent over to America to understand how they are working with TopVis and see the differences between Germany and America.

Editor's Note: TopVis is VEGA's CRM system, developed by VEGA Grieshaber.

What do you do at VEGA?

At VEGA I am one of our TopVis support employees in Germany. We help employees whenever they have problems, issues or questions regarding TopVis. On the other side, I also work closely with the programmer to test the new TopVis versions before it will be installed in the live version for everyone else.

What was the most exciting part of your trip outside of work?

I would say I saw a lot of exciting things, it was my first time outside Europe! But if I have to say a favorite I would say attending the live show Good Morning America in New York City, NY. It is not something that all tourists do when they are in New York City but I would have regretted if I had missed that. I saw David Guetta and Sean Paul live because they performed their new song on the show and I had the chance to take photos with the hosts of the show.

Did anything surprise you about America?

Yes! During my stay I recognized a lot of differences and I would say the differences were my surprise about America. It was a different scene out the window, different to drive, different meals, etc. but it was all in a nice way which is hard to explain.
