Mathew has jumped right into projects whether it's day to day or long term. He has helped with catching up on some routine tasks our team had fallen behind on while also helping on some special projects for our department. He has been a valuable asset, helping everyone from the quality manager and engineers to the lab inspectors.
What brought you to VEGA?
I wanted a better understanding of the work in my field of study and I believed VEGA would be a good experience.
What are your daily tasks at VEGA?
Sorting MTRs and creating inspection sheets. MTR stands for material tracking records which are the certificates that let the Quality department know the composition of the parts we order. I make sure that we have the MRTs organized by supplier, heat number, quantity, and date acquisition.
Have you worked on any special projects?
I have worked with Ken Geiger, one of our quality engineers, to simplify the [instrument] calibration process.
What is your biggest accomplishment at VEGA?
Getting the MTR folder up-to-date from October.
What is your favorite class?
Thermodynamics because we had a really good professor who made sure we understood the content and had the whole class laughing regularly.
What has been the biggest challenge you faced with this internship?
Learning to adjust to a new work environment.
