Around the World with 80 GHz – We love Radar in Japan

On Saturday, 22 April 2017 we took a direct flight from Frankfurt to Tokyo. In less than eleven hours we flew halfway around the world. Due to the time difference (+7 hours) it was already Sunday, when we arrived. The weather was perfect, so it was great time to travel. After arriving in Tokyo, we got to our hotel by bus and train.

The next day we started with an internal seminar at Yokogawa, our representatives in Japan. We’ve been working together with them for more than 15 years. With 2,200 employees in Tokyo and almost 19,000 employees worldwide, Yokogawa is a very important partner for VEGA.

"VEGAPULS 64 – 80 GHz for liquids" was the focus of the Training.
Many questions were asked about this radar measurement technology and of course, we gladly answered them. After all, that’s the main reason why we came to Japan!
Heinz Wöhrle and I also wore our "We love Radar" t-shirts to the joint evening dinner, much to the delight of our hosts. In return, we were delighted to see a yellow heart next to the beer on the menu ;-).
The following day we had a lot of internal meetings, where we talked about marketing measures. For example, Yokogawa had synchronized our YouTube videos to Japanese,  seeing and hearing yourself speaking Japanese is really crazy. Later on, I had the opportunity to meet my "Japanese voice" live (see photo).
To round off our stay in Japan, we went to a sushi restaurant for dinner on the last evening, where we enjoyed an amazing meal.
On Wednesday morning it was sadly time to begin our journey back home. But try riding the Tokyo subway during the morning rush hour ... oh my life… the trains are mega crowded! We could barely squeeze ourselves in, let alone our luggage. Therefore, my expert tip for the Tokyo subway: Travel light, use the smallest suitcase you can find!
