Level and pressure instrumentation for wastewater treatment: High efficiency with VEGA transmitters
Challenges in measurement technology
Recipe for the success of the VEGAPULS radar transmitters
In stormwater overflow basins and pump shafts, for example, transmitter robustness plays a particularly important role.
Application areas and examples
The fine screen is responsible for skimming off remaining smaller solids. Radar transmitters measure the water level upstream and downstream of the screens.
As an alternative to level measurement with radar transmitters, the VEGAWELL 52 hydrostatic pressure transmitter provides high measurement reliability, even with large installation depths. Its ceramic CERTEC® measuring cell offers high long-term stability even under extreme conditions. Integrated overvoltage protection reliably protects the electronics from atmospheric interference.

Level measurement in a vacuum tank
When new building zones are opened up, it is often quite expensive to build a sewerage network with the necessary downward slope. In such cases, a vacuum sewerage network offers an interesting alternative to traditional sewer systems. The wastewater is transported to the pumping station under vacuum, which allows significantly smaller pipes to be used and stretches of upward slope spanned. A central vacuum pumping unit conveys the wastewater from households via a central sewage discharge into the public sewer system. To effectively control the system the level in the vacuum tank must be continuously monitored.
