VEGA takes the lead in providing reliable protection against cyber threats. After the certification of the VEGAPULS 6X radar sensors, which were developed according to the highest current standards for cybersecurity, the company is now following suit with its cloud services: This state of the art Inventory System was successfully certified according to the ISO/IEC 27001 standard and thus fulfils the international industry standard for information security.

As a "software as a service" (SaaS) product, the VEGA Inventory System enables an efficient and simple method of acquiring, visualising and exchanging valuable measurement and business data from the field. It provides a compact overview, especially in mobile level applications, where information on current stock levels, delivery quantities or locations must be quickly available. Electronic operational data exchange significantly streamlines ordering processes and delivery planning.

🔐 Minimising cybersecurity risks

ISO 27001 certification is not required by law. However, as an international standard, it ensures that all applicable standards are observed as a preventive measure. This means that both the capacity and the know-how are fully developed in order to implement them effectively. “Our comprehensive protective measures enable us to make an important contribution to the security of our customers’ applications,” explains Martin Schlipp, who specialises in IT security at VEGA. “Our goal is to reduce cyber risks to a minimum.”

📃 A long road to certification

Security requires foresight. In 2018, VEGA laid the foundation for the current certificate with a SOC 2 audit for system and organisation control. Behind this is the internationally recognised American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), which has certified that VEGA takes the strictest precautions in dealing with the security and data protection of its customer information. By achieving the ISO 27001 standard, VEGA has gone one step further. The standard certifies that the service provider carries out information security management fully and can be relied on at the highest level. “Our customers can rest assured that we have established the right processes for handling their sensitive data,” explains Russell Astley from the VEGA Digital Solutions team.

🏭 More corporate culture than certificate

Unlike a mere 'self-declaration or a promise', ISO/IEC 27001 provides a guarantee that comes from an independent body. Compliance with the standard gives customers the assurance that best-practice security measures have been taken. And it shows that cybersecurity within the company is far more than just a certificate. Besides IEC 62443-4-2 for VEGAPULS 6X radar level sensors, ISO/IEC 27001 for information security management systems is also an integral part of VEGA’s corporate culture. “Our goal is to work even more with our customers in a way that inspires their trust,” says Astley.
