Application
Separation processes often involve the separation of water-based media and hydrocarbons. Level measurement with guided radar utilises the effect that non-conductive media allow some of the radar energy to pass through, thereby enabling measurement of the interface between the water-based medium and the hydrocarbons. In interface detection with a vibrating level switch, the different densities of the media cause the tuning fork to vibrate at different frequencies. These frequencies can be converted into a switching command in the downstream controller to reliably differentiate between the two media.
