Since 2016, VEGA America has partnered with Adopt A Class, a program connecting businesses and civic groups with students in economically challenged schools. The VEGA team volunteers one hour per month as mentors at Silverton Elementary School in Cincinnati, OH. At each session, VEGA exposes their 4th grade students to a breadth of experiences and training to be job and career ready. January was a special visit as VEGA set up the VEGATRUCK for hands-on demonstrations with the students in the special semi showroom.

The VEGATRUCK is VEGA’s traveling classroom that was brought right to the front door of Silverton Elementary School. On board, students got an exhibition and a preview of what on-site training looks like. The truck features fifteen models with functioning measuring instruments that illustrate VEGA solutions for applications in different industries. Students interacted with lots of functional VEGA instruments that they could touch and try out. All of the instruments are connected in a network just like in a real industrial plant.

Nearly 100 students from Silverton Elementary School and staff explored the VEGATRUCK! “The visit with our amazing Adopt A Class team from VEGA was an opportunity to remember for staff and students,” said Dawn Bittner, 4th grade teacher of the classroom mentored by VEGA. “The VEGA team has always been a wonderful partner to my homeroom. The fact they allowed us to open this experience to other classes within the school speaks volumes to who they are as a company, very inclusive and community-oriented. The students were filled with enthusiasm, excitement and smiles! We are forever grateful for this experience they gave us.”

“Adopt A Class is proud to partner with VEGA as we expose Greater Cincinnati students to cutting-edge careers in the manufacturing industry and instill passion to unleash each student’s potential to achieve their dreams,” said Sonya Fultz, Chief Executive Officer of Adopt A Class.
