MASON, Ohio (August 15, 2025) – VEGA Americas, Inc., a global leader in manufacturing level, switching, and pressure measurement technology for the processing industry, along with Sinclair Community College, hosted a recognition event to celebrate eight apprentices in the Industrial Maintenance Technician (IMT) program.

Five apprentices were recognized for completing the IMT coursework through Sinclair’s Mason campus, and three new apprentices were welcomed into the program. The IMT apprenticeship is a collaborative effort between VEGA and Sinclair, providing hands-on training and classroom instruction to develop a skilled workforce for the manufacturing industry.

“The hands-on work regarding setting up a wiring panel, inputs, a motor, and control circuits were in my opinion the most valuable and educational things we did,” said Samuel Parrett, Mechanical Assembler. “I have applied this experience to handywork at my home setting up my own custom lighting fixtures and sensors.”

Apprenticeships offer a unique opportunity for individuals to gain valuable work experience and earn a competitive wage while pursuing education. Apprentices gained exposure to pneumatics, PLCs, and other technologies to better prepare them for careers in Field Service, Technical Sales, and other new positions.

“At VEGA, I can apply what I’ve learned every day, whether I’m performing preventative maintenance, working with different programs/software or even troubleshooting skills,” said Simara Sayre, Mechanical Assembler. “I would say that this program has also opened many doors for me for advancing my career here at VEGA, and that alone is something I am very grateful for.”

Sinclair’s Apprenticeship Program, launched in 2018, has grown to include 10 programs in various fields, with a total of 98 active apprentices at 19 regional companies. In the last cohort, four of the five students entered new roles shortly after completion. 2025’s celebration recognized the first three female graduates of the program: Shelby Martin, Makayla Rowe, and Simara Sayre.

“The IMT apprenticeship program isn't just about training; it's a testament to the powerful connection between education and industry,” said Madeline Iseli, Senior Vice President at Sinclair. “Through our collaborative efforts with VEGA, Sinclair is directly addressing the critical need for a skilled manufacturing workforce in our region. This program provides students with invaluable hands-on experience and classroom instruction, equipping them with the practical skills and knowledge demanded by today's advanced manufacturing landscape. It strengthens our regional partnerships, fosters economic growth, and most importantly, empowers our students to pursue a rewarding career."

“I am so proud of our graduates,” said Ron Foltz, Vice President, Manufacturing at VEGA. “They were fully invested in the program from start to finish. They made the difficult job of balancing work, life, and school look easy.”
