Advanced Startup and Commissioning – Non-contact radar and Guided Wave Radar
This 16-hour training class is held at one of our VEGA facilities and discusses setup & configuration of VEGA non-contact and guided wave radar devices using PACTware with VEGA Device Type Managers (DTMs) and the VEGA Tools app. This course balances direct instruction with guided hands-on exercises and self-directed hands-on experiences.
Who should attend?
Any person working with VEGA radar instrumentation and plant subject matter experts that would like to learn more about the setup and maintenance of VEGA radar devices using common setup tools.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, attendees are able to:
- List the four golden rules of non-contact radar commissioning
- Define an echo curve and identify how it is used to evaluate performance of a radar instrument
- Configure a 4…20 mA VEGA non-contact radar and guided wave radar sensor
- Optimize a VEGA non-contact radar and guided wave radar sensor for specific applications
- Explain the benefits of a false signal suppression
- Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot a VEGA instrument using tools such as event memory, echo curve memory, and service recording
Methodology:
Theory: Instructor-led modules with a variety of content including lecture, live demonstrations, guided hands-on group activities, and application of information through class discussions.
Practical Methodology: Supervised hands-on experience with setup, configuration, and calibration of VEGA radar sensors.
Prerequisites:
- Basic knowledge of instrumentation
- Basic computer skills
